Project Background

A customer in Kenya required a dip tank pretreatment line to prepare workpieces for subsequent coating. Pretreatment is an important stage in a coating production line, helping remove surface contaminants and prepare the workpiece surface for the selected coating process. The pretreatment method and tank arrangement need to match the workpiece material, surface condition and production requirements.

ZHYAO Solution

ZHYAO configured a dip tank pretreatment solution for the project in Kenya. Unlike spray pretreatment, which applies treatment chemicals through spray nozzles, dip tank pretreatment immerses workpieces in treatment solutions.

The immersion method allows treatment solutions to contact accessible workpiece surfaces. The tank sequence and treatment stages should be determined according to the material, contamination type and required surface preparation standard.

Key design considerations include:

• Dip Tanks: Provide immersion stages for the required pretreatment operations.

• Workpiece Handling: Supports moving workpieces into and out of the tanks and transferring them between treatment stages.

• Pretreatment Sequence: The arrangement of degreasing, rinsing and other treatment stages depends on the workpiece and the required pretreatment process.

Process and System Configuration

A typical dip tank pretreatment process may include:

Loading → Degreasing → Water Rinsing → Surface Conditioning or Other Required Treatment → Final Rinsing → Drying → Subsequent Coating

The actual process depends on the workpiece material, surface contamination, pretreatment chemicals and coating requirements. Not every project requires all the stages listed above.
